As previously stated, today is the day that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn fans can pre-order the forthcoming expansion, Heavensward. The problem for European players is that they currently can’t pre-order at all. The Square Enix online store has been displaying an error message for hours now, with Square Enix finally putting a “system maintenance” banner in the mean time. As the game doesn’t appear to be available for pre-order anywhere else, European players have no choice but to wait for the website to be up and running once more.
Square Enix has apologised for the Heavensward pre-orders being unavailable, stating that there are currently “issues on EU SQUARE ENIX STORE”. It’s unclear as to how limited the Collector’s Edition of Heavensward will be, naturally, fans are beginning to worry that they will miss out on the coveted Collector’s Edition due to the downtime.
The physical Collector’s Edition will include the game, a dragon statue, an art book, a blu-ray disc that will contain all 2.55 cut-scenes as well as previous trailers that have been released, all encased in a beautiful box that features artwork by Yoshitaka Amano. Additionally, the Collector’s Edition includes in-game items such as the Flying Griffin mount, a Wind-up Kain minion, a bottle of Fantasia, and a Baron helm, modelled after Cecil’s helm from Final Fantasy IV.
Anyone who pre-orders the expansion will be able to access the game early on June 19, 2015, as well as receiving the Baron Circlet and Earrings, as well as the Black Chocobo Courier minion.
We’ll let you know as soon as the website is up and running, stay tuned in the mean time. Heavensward is due to release on June 23, 2015.
