Today Shigeru Miyamoto, the father of Mario, took the stage at Apple’s press event in San Francisco, introducing a new game titled Super Mario Run to App Store.
Super Mario Run is a new side-scrolling endless runner game. In the game, Mario runs automatically, so you only need to tap the screen to make him jump which means you can play it with one hand. The longer you tap, the higher he jumps. You collect coins and try to get to the flag pole before time gets out. Besides the classic game mode, there will be a new battle mode called Toad Rally, where you try to beat someone else’s high score. And there is another mode in which you create your own Mushroom Kingdom based upon your play results.
The game will be available first on App Store this December and the Android version will be released at some point in the future. The game will be sold for a one-off fee, however the price has not been confirmed. After the launch of Super Mario Run, Nintendo plans to deliver its previously announced mobile device titles in the Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem series before the end of March, 2017.
